Whale are familiar animals to people because of their big size and mild impression. However, they are captured by humans, so they are endangered species now. The more the number of whales decreases, the more serious the environment is influenced.
Why humans catch whales even if they know they are endangered now? It is because whales can be a source of a huge amount of money. Since they are priced at about ten million and sometimes a hundred million, they are often called "a lotto of the sea." So, some people kill the whales to earn money although it is illegal.
If whale hunting continues, it will bring bad effects to the environment. As the number of whales' entity declines, variety of their species are also diminishing. It will influence the food chain of the marine ecosystem if they disappear. Whales also have an important role to diminish the effects of global warming. A whale can store an average of thirty-three tons of carbon inside its body. Comparing to a tree, which can absorb twenty-two kilograms a year, whales absorb overwhelmingly much carbon. After they die in natural death, they sink in the sea and do not emit carbon inside them for hundred years. If whales are killed more, global warming would be accelerated and harm the environment rapidly.
Many whales are dying now. To protect them, we should pay attention to the issue and notice it more to the people who do not know about this. Humans have to coexist with whales for our natural environment.
