You may watch on the television about conscientious objector. A conscientious objector is a person who refuses to be a part of a combat soldier or participate in the military because of religion, moral, and ethical conscience. Before, it was illegal to refuse military service. So, the people who refused to attend had to go to jail. However, as the world changes, people started to think about the right of conscientious objector, and there were some cases that the judgment was in favor of them. Like this, people think more about human right value than before. However, there are still people who are discriminated by others. They are called minority. 

 
A minority is a group of people who are being discriminated by others and thinks they feel discrimination. One of the things that people misunderstand is that a minority is not a group of few people. For example, seniors are one of the minority. However, we cannot say that the elderly is few. Like this, we have many misapprehensions about the minority. So, we have to change our perception of them and respect them.
Then, what kind of discrimination is being used in South Korea? A foreign worker can be an example. Many television programs or news broadcasted the life of a foreign worker. As many people will imagine, many people work for a long time while earning little money. Although these foreign workers are important manpower resources that fill the deficiency with manpower resources in South Korea, people still segregate these people. Another example is sexual minorities, the so-called gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transsexual. South Korea is a country that does not allow the marriage of homosexual. This is one of the reasons why homosexuals are hiding. People think sexual minorities are unusual. This kind of discrimination is making minorities hard to live.

▲ Book ˝Human right and Minority Story˝

When we talk about a minority, there is a book that I want to recommend. It is "Human Right and Minority Story." This book shows how minority battling against discrimination. One is just accepting. People will just adjust in discrimination as they know that the world will not change easily. Second is evading. This kind of action is not the solution for discrimination. The best way is to accept, understand and respect minorities so that they will not be minorities anymore. Actually, we should also work hard to get better human right. To live better, to make the world a better place, we should not stop fighting against discrimination.
