In some East Asian countries, a person's blood type is believed to determine personality traits. Actually, we sometimes talk about the personality between four blood types. However, scientifically, it has not enough evidence. Scientific, community says blood types are maintained as a classification system for safe transfusions of blood in emergency situations. The first ABO blood group system was discovered by Austrian Physician Karl Landsteiner in 1900. He found that the blood serum from different people would clump together when mixed in test tubes, and some human blood agglutinated with animal blood.

The ABO grouping system was officially announced in 1901, comprising A, B, and C types. In the following year, AB was additionally found, and C was replaced with O. The four major blood groups are determined by the presence or absence of antigens A and B on the surface of red blood cells. Group A has only the A antigen on red cells and B antibody in the plasma. Group B has reversed to group A. Group AB has both A and B antigens on red cells but neither A nor B antibodies in the plasma. Group O has neither A nor B antigens on red cells, but both A and B antibodies in the plasma. Blood coagulation has happened with the combination of antigens and antibodies. Moreover, these reasons made ABO blood types the most important ones in a transfusion.

Blood types are not only used in a surgery but also in everyday life for fun! We sometimes presume other's personality by blood types. The person who has blood type O likes to be complimented and usually cute and mature. Those who have A have very strong self-pride and very sensitive. Those with B pretend to be strong, however, they are actually weak. In addition, they are good at memorization. Lastly, people with blood type AB have talent in art in general. They are wariness, tricky, and have high comprehension, logicality, and observation.
