Last April 24th, Samsung announced a new solid-state drive called Samsung 970 PRO and EVO. They are the next generation of Samsung 960 PRO and EVO which launched last June that developed sequential write that speeds up to 30%. The Samsung 970 PRO and EVO are designed to give consumers the fastest speed and big capacity by applying Samsung's latest 64-layer V-NAND technology and Phoenix controller.

The Samsung 970 PRO and EVO series include Phoenix controller which is the next generation of Polaris controller. It has an improved random read and write that speeds up to 52%, sequential read and write that speeds up to 29% and lengthen TBW(Total Byte Written) which represents its lifespan one and half times. The 960 series applied Copper Seal at sticker part to make it as heat sinking plane and DTG(Dynamic Thermal Guard) algorithm which adjusts performance according to temperature. Also, the 970 PRO improved its performance by plating with nickel at controller surface to improve heat conductivity and improving DTG algorithm. Next, the mainstream product, Samsung 970 EVO, used same V-NAND and TLC type. In order to prevent less performance drop from TLC type, the TurboWrite technology was applied.

The solid-state drive is a storage device that uses a semiconductor called Solid State Disk. Compared to Hard Disk Drive, it is totally acted electronically, so it reduces search time, reaction time, failure and noise. Also, it does not have any physical movement, so it can save energy.

Samsung announced its new and fast solid-state drive called Samsung 970 PRO and EVO. They are the nonvolatile memory express SSD products. The Samsung 970 series applied Samsung's latest 64-layer V-NAND technology and Phoenix controller which replaces Polaris controller.
