The work of augmented reality engineer is to develop an augmented reality system that synthesizes various information and virtual reality to the real world through the screen.

Augmented reality engineers work on developing an augmented reality system and making contents by applying the system. When they develop the system, they gather information about the users and what the users want. Then, they develop algorithms and complete the system throughout the optimization process.

An interview with Jae-Chul Ahn, an augmented reality engineer working at Umundus, was detailed with his experience. He said that his major is Computer Engineering, and he is developing a program about the augmented reality. Working on it, he knew not only that mathematical ability is fundamentally important, but also foreign language ability is essential for reading foreign treatises. Also, when he makes AR contents, he decides the concept of it and designs the concept to two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Then, he completes it throughout the programming process. Finally, he said that augmented reality engineer is an interesting job, so if you want to be an augmented reality engineer, try to get the mathematical ability and enjoy it.

Degrees about computer such as computer engineering and computer software engineering is acceptable for this job. Moreover, the abilities of visual designs and ingenuity are essential because when augmented reality engineers make some contents about AR, these abilities are helpful for three-dimensional space configuration.
