South Korea hosts the 2018 winter Olympics from February 9 to February 25.

The host city is Pyeongchang, South Korea (23rd Olympic).

The city is about 80 miles (125 kilometers) east of Seoul and about 60 miles south of the Demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea.

This is the second Olympic game held in South Korea.



The opening ceremonies took place on Friday, February 9.

And the closing ceremonies take place on Sunday, February 25.

NBC and BBC will broadcast the games on TV and online.

South Korea is 14hours ahead of Newyork, 15 hours ahead of Chicago, 17 hours ahead of LA, 9 hours ahead of London.

The mascot is a white tiger named Soohorang.


There is many top sponsors for the Pyeongchang Olympics like Alibaba, Coca-Cola, Visa, Atos, Intel, Samsung, Panasonic, Bridgestone, Procter and Gumble, Toyota, Omega, and dow.

Each company did many things for the Olympic.

For example, Visa supports 54 athletes through its Olympics sponsorship and Samsung released an ad showing Dutch skaters Sjinkie Knegt and Suzanne Schulting wearing the brand’s smart suits.



Lastly, what can Korea earn by hosting the Olympics?

Lee Hee-beom the chief of the country’s organizing committee for the sports events, mentioned that the economic impact of hosting the W. Olympics is expected to top 32 trillion won over the next decade by fueling infrastructure construction and the local tourism industry.

Some 390,000 foreigners and some 2.2 million locals are expected to visit the venues of the events in Gangwon province, and it will be a good chance to promote the country.

Also, it will create 230,000 more jobs.

This Olympic can be a good chance to make our country big.
