Korean boy band, BTS would appear on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" on December 31, 2017. This news was surprising because that they were the first Korean boy band who appeared on that show, and this is the first time that a Korean idol appears on that show.

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" started to broadcast in 1975. A lot of people greeted the new year with this program. Many famous people like Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber, Brandy and The Black Eyed Peas appeared on that show. This program became famous in South Korea since PSY appeared in 2013. PSY was the first Korean who had performed the stage on "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve", but he performed with MC Hammer, but not as a solo artist. However, in the case of BTS, they had their own stage in the show.

How one of the Korean boy bands, BTS could appear on this huge show with other international stars? It was a great achievement for BTS. At first, they were just informed to attend the Billboard Music Awards 2017 which was held last May. Through this chance, people around the world noticed them, and foreign news media spotlight BTS when they released their fifth mini album, "LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her'". Their title song, 'DNA' entered at the Billboard top 200 charts and other famous charts. Moreover, on November 19, 2017(local time), they performed on AMA's(American Music Awards) stage and appeared on three broadcasting station's representative talk shows.

These things were matchless achievements of K-pop. BTS is leading globalization of Korean songs. We can expect more great results about K-pop and BTS next year.
