There is a rising star in female Korean figure skating, and her name is Choi Da-bin. She has a few competitions to participate in at a Pyeongchang Olympics as a member of the national team.

There is a female figure skating athlete, named Choi Da-bin. She won a gold medal in the Sapporo Asain Games on last February, as her first for figure skating. Moreover, she also placed tenth at the world championship meet last April, which qualified the Korean National Team for the next Winter Olympics at Pyeongchang. Now, she is competing in the selection contest for the Korean national squad. However, since the Grand Prix of this year, she has experienced a slump. She recorded 9th at a competition and even gave up in another one because of injury.

▲ One small step to the Pyeongchang

She said that she felt like she has reached the lowest point in the current season, and has yet to reach her peak form since the 2016-2017 season, during which she also won the Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan. She is dealing with lingering left foot pains all season, caused by a loose pair of boots. She has been struggling to regain her form in the build-up to next year's Winter Olympics. She is scheduled to compete in the second round of the national qualification event for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics at Mokdong Ice Rink. This will be held in Seoul this weekend. On the first qualifying event, her total score was 181.79 points, which was more than 12 points compared to Kim Ha-nul who placed second. Third, the final leg of the qualifications is left and the combined scores will determine who will represent South Korea on the home ice. There are two places left to fill the national team. She said that she did not really have high expectations for herself this weekend, adding that she is still trying to land her jumps more consistently.

Nobody knows who will finally represent South Korea. There have been no expectations when Yuna Kim left the ice rink. However, there is a rising star in Korean figure skating. If she qualifies, this will be her first Winter Olympics. I expect great things from her and South Korea.
