There was a burning smell. An elderly couple knew that there was a fire miles away. However, there had been many small wildfires, and there was also no evacuation order from the country. Therefore, they went to sleep. They woke up when they got a call for their daughter to evacuate. "A huge forest fire spread fast, and they had to evacuate?" When they packed some goods in haste and walked out, the escape route was on fire already. The sky was full of ashes, and it was too hot to just stand up outside.
The wildfire occurred in western Los Angeles, Santa Barbara. It continued for almost 13 days, starting on October 8th. The 220 thousand of the forest was in fire and many houses and infrastructures collapsed. 46 people died, and other people are still missing. Firefighters tried to put out the fire, but it was hard because of the climate. The research team of Idaho and Colombia University suggested that it was caused by the climate change. The moisture content of air decreased, and dry weather continued. It helped the fire to spread fast and be put out hard.
The forest fires affected California a lot. The document by Hewlett-Packard was destroyed by fire. An affiliated company of HP, Keysight Technologies, was burned to the bottom. There were a hundred of boxes which contained documents and text of speech written by Hewlett and Packard. They had a lot of value of history. The wine industry also suffered from the wildfire. 85 percent of America's wine is produced by California. Because of the fire, eight wineries were burned, and mature wine was boiled, so the value of commodities decreased. Also, a lot of grape trees were burned, and ashes made the grapes' quality bad.
The forest fires which occurred in California made a lot of casualties and affected many areas. According to California Insurance Bureau, the damage amount is estimated to be more than 10 billion dollars. People in all other countries hope that all damages are estimated as soon as possible.
