" Wow!" "Amazing!" "Revolutionary!" There are lots of compliments for South Korea nowadays because of the pace of the development of our technologies. We have developed it quickly, and it has been changing our lives. AI, or artificial intelligence, is making such big changes. Facebook, Google, IBM and lots of companies are on a race for the first one to successfully develop an AI. My sister said to me that she cannot imagine that an AI will be able to recognize us, much less think and speak.
AI, Big Data, and the Internet are all components of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. As our technologies develop and its availability to the public increases, we can do a lot of things. For example, Facebook is propelling a system. Deepface can recognize a person, his clothes, and his gender. Apple has Siri, while IBM and Google are also developing their own AI.
To start with, I want to talk about the advantages of AI. First, our lives will be better and more convenient. For example, we can put AI into our utilities. As they have enough information to talk and help people, they are useful and effective. Also, AI can solve problems with more logic, without the emotions that seem to hamper humans. In addition, they can more efficiently do what humans cannot, such as medical treatments and dangerous missions.
However, if there are some advantages, in my opinion, there are more serious disadvantages. There are some jobs that will no longer be available for humans. AI can also violate our rights and think that they are doing the most logical thing. Ultimately, there are problems while we continue to develop the AI. Nowadays, with the current industrial revolution, it is hard for some people to use the computer. There are even some people who still do now know the existence of computers. For this, if we only focus on AI advances, people would be unable to live peaceably together. There will be more disparities between developed and developing countries, not only in their economies, but political situations as well.
Should we not be happy to have convenient and advanced technologies? Unfortunately, the answer is no. We live in one world, so we have to cooperate with each other. Therefore, I believe that we have to make programs which can teach other countries or people more easily. More specifically, I believe that we have to announce why we have to use AI, and what it can give to us. If we seek and do things right in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it will lead to better lives in the future.
