MBC and KBS television channels and radio stations have come to standstill since over 3,800 union members of the two Korean broadcasters went on a strike in September.

With many of its employees refusing to work for the broadcasters, they have managed to cover minimum news and aired reruns and stand-alone features for nine weeks.

A lot of famous entertainments for MBC and KBS such as “I Live Alone”, “Infinite Challenge”, and “Masked Singer” have been on hold indefinitely.

News programs have been either canceled or drastically minimized.

The union members and employees are refusing to hold their microphone or edit news supported the strike and are demanding the resignation of KBS President Ko Dae-Young and MBC President Kim Jang-Kyeon.

A thousand of union members at South Korea’s two biggest television networks went on a strike to protest

against alleged management interference in news coverage and unfair labor practices.

In the time of former President Park Geun-Hye, the government forced these broadcasters to edit news to hide any kinds of events or evidences that could be worked against them.

Union members, associated with the National Union of Media workers at KBS and MBC, two of the country’s biggest terrestrial networks' called for the removal of the networks management and restoration of independent and fair reporting as well.

This strike had been continued for the past two months, and it seems that the strike has been progressing as the media keep on sending out news about the strike, and citizens of South Korea are supporting their strike fully.

Korea for the last few years have said that does not feel like he is a PD, but rather, he feels like a slave.

As one of the executives summarized, having lost the trust of the public through politically biased reporting, defamation and editorial intervention, the MBC and KBS joined labor union called for restoration of the public concern in media.
