After their annual Security Consultative Meeting in Seoul on October 28th, Jim Mattis powerfully warned North Korea about the nuclear.

Jim Mattis, US Defense Secretary said that the threat of nuclear attack by North Korea is increasing.

"North Korea has accelerated the threat that it poses to its neighbors and the world through its illegal and unnecessary missile and nuclear weapons programs,'' he said.

He said that the United States would never tolerate any nuclear attack from North Korea.

“Make no mistake -- any attack on the United States, or our allies, will be defeated. And any use of nuclear weapons by the North will be met with a massive military response that is both effective and overwhelming,” said Mattis after the meeting.

As he emphasized throughout his weeklong Asia trip, which included stops in Thailand and the Philippines, Mattis said diplomacy remains the preferred way to deal with the North.

He also added that North Korea cannot be the rival with South Korea and US allies and they are just shooting itself in the foot.

Along with that, Mettis took a positive attitude about the THAAD and mentioned that they are being protected well by it from the North Korea's missile attack.

He also said that the study attitude of United States to North Korea would not be changed and US would actively support South Korea to process wartime operational control (OPCON).

On the other hand, Mettis took a negative attitude to South Korea to rearrange tactical nuclear weapon mentioning the principle of denuclearization.

He said that our ultimate purpose is to make North Korea to be a denuclearization nation and took examples of nations' struggle to denuclearize such as China and Japan.

He added that to keep North Korea from the nuclear, we also need to struggle for denuclearization.

This was Mattis's second visit to South Korea since January. He made a point of going to Seoul and Tokyo on his first overseas trip in February, saying he wanted to emphasize the importance he places on strengthening alliances and partnerships.
