     South Korea was able to find some eggs contaminated with a harmful pesticide. Major retail outlets, Homeplus and Lotte Mart, decided to pull out these eggs from their shelves until the goverment releases the test result. Also, one of the most largest retailers, Hanaro Mart, decided to stop selling boiled eggs and cookies made from these eggs. In addition, the Food Ministry banned all egg sales from farms with more than 3,oo chickens. one farm owner said during the inspection that they were only trying to kill ticks and that they were not aware it was harmful for humans.

     Some of the eggs contained Fipronil, a pesticide designed to kill ants and other insects. Fipronil is moderately toxic. In south Korea, Fipronil was banned from use on livestock. Howeverm egg farms have been using it ro kill ticks on chickens, the goverment only allow 12 kinds of pesticides on farms, not they are not powerful than Fipronil. Also, the remnants linger in the air and they can kill ticks more than any other pesticides. These pesticides finding first surfaced in Belgium and expanded to the Netherlands, Germany, France, and other parts of Western Europe. Fipronil can cause headache, internal organ damage, and dysesthesia. the maximum anount of fipronil found on a contaminanted egg is 0.02%, but the amount found on a farm in Namyangju is 0.0363%. This same farm has 80,000 hens, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

     Eggs are being produced in 35 seperated farms. Some of the them are called eco-friendly, but most of them have tested positive with pesticide. People were shocked that 31 of the 49 affected farms had been certified as environmentally friendly. Most of consumers buy expensive eco friendly eggs for health purposes, but the eco friendly egg's eligibility has become very slack while safety is being guaranteed.
     Eggs are one of the most cooked products in South Korea. However nowm with safety checks being done on egg farms, people are hesitant to buy them because of fear. Even the nation's top three discount stores have declared a boycott. People are still waitting for the goverment's inpsection result to be released.
