On August 8th, 2017 an earthquake of 7.0 magnitude hit Sichuan Province in China. Sichuan is a tourist destination, so there were very many people present. Also there was a concert near the place that earthquake hit. 24 people died and 493 people were injured by the earthquake. Almost 70,000 people were evacuated from the place where the earthquake happened. Also, there were 99 Koreans in Sichuan, but fortunately, only two of them were injured.

India and China were in a border dispute, but after the earthquake, India’s Prime Minister used Chinese SNS to console the victims of the earthquake. He said, “I offer condolences to the victims. The Indian people want a quick recovery of the injured people, too.” He also added then he is very sorry that many people were injured and died from the earthquake. Many people see this action of India's Prime Minister was very good and it will make India and China's relationship better.

There were strong earthquakes in Sichuan 9 years ago, so China’s reaction to the earthquake was more relaxed than 9 years ago. 86,000 people died then, but only 24 people died this time. Though the earthquake that happened 9 years was stronger than this one,

the number of the victims decreased. Also, according to some

Chinese people, a warning about the earthquake appeared on their TV screens about 40 seconds before the earthquake. So, due to

the warning, many people could prepare for the earthquake.
