Hyundai and Kia produce new cars for the rising compact SUV market. Hyundai has the Kona and Kia has the Stonic.
Kona emphasizes stronger power than other compact SUV's. Kona uses the I30's frame and is produced in Ulsan 1 factory with the Accent. The car is the first compact SUV to feature the HUD. Kona has two power train 1.6L gasoline turbo which produces 177hp and a 1.6L diesel which produces 136hp in Korea. It's little bit more expensive than others but, the performance of this car will cover it. Kona is superior to international compact SUV'S such as the Jeep Renegade. This is shown not only by its unique look but also with its strong capabilities and performance. The positives of this SUV demand that it is marketed at a price worthy of this vehicle.
Stonic emphasizes the cheapest price in the compact SUV market. Stonic uses PRIDE's frame and shares many parts with it. So the cost of development has been greatly reduced. It has no AWD option but it has a 1.6L diesel engine which produces 110hp.
But Stonic is different from Kona. Unlike Kona, who boasts robust specs, Stonic boasts a 'cost-effectiveness'. Stonic has a city-type design designed for younger generations and considered the price of 18 million won, cheaper than other models, also has fuel economy of 17.7 km/h.
It is obviously clear that the Kona and Stonic pursue entirely different values. These two cars will not have much effect on each other. The contrast between the Kona and Stonic means that there is a place for both SUV's in the compact SUV market of Korea.
Kona and Stonic have been released to participate in the popular compact SUV world market. They have to compete with Ssang yong motors Tivoli, Jeep renegade, Citroen C4 Cactus, Peugeot 2008, Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, Fiat 500X. Whatever compact SUV is chosen, Korean and international consumers would be satisfied by the latest productions for the Korean car giants.
