On November 28, Italian scientists released the first image showing what spike proteins look like in the "Omicron" strain. The "Omicron" image completed by the complex laboratory of a pediatric hospital in Rome, showed its difference from the mutant "Delta" virus that had spread so far. Delta mutations have 18 mutated amino acid residues while 43 for "Omicron" strains. Regarding "Omicron", the research team explained, "It does not mean that it is more dangerous because there are more mutations, but the virus has adapted more to humans and created many mutations." In fact, a study found in Hong Kong that Omicrons proliferate more than 70 times faster in bronchial tubes than delta mutations. There is no suitable way to South Korea to cope with Omicron anywhere in the world.

However, not long ago, a PCR reagent was developed in South Korea to determine Omicron mutations, allowing the confirmation of Omicron infection within three to four hours of COVID-19 confirmation. The Korea centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on December 24 that it has developed a PCR reatent for rapid confirmation of Omicron mutations promoted through public and private cooperation. The quarantine authorities have formed a private expert advisiory committee to introduce PCR reagents for Omicron within this yeat ro support reagent manufacturers. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that it has selected pfoducts that can actually be used after discussions with the efficacy evaluation and advisory committee. Selected PCR reagents will be distributed to local governments nationwide on the 29th.

WIth the new mutation PCR analysis, four mutations, including alpa, beta, gamma, and delta, and five major mutations, ranging from Omicron mutations, can be determined at once. It is the world's first PCR test to determine five major mutations at once. Since only four mutations can be determined bu the excisting mutation PCR test except for Omicron. an additional genome analysis test that takes three to five days to determine Omicron mutation had to be conducted. The head of the Korea Centers for DIsease Control and Prevention said that it takes three to five days to confirm Omicron after COVID-19 confirmation, but the new mutation introduces PCR reagents to shorten the time within three to four hours after confirmation.

"Decided in three to four hours." Omicron PCR will be used on the 30th for south Korea's development.
