A cold is a disease that is caused by a respiratory system infection. A respiratory system infection is caused by more than 200 viruses. Its representative symptoms are sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, cough, slight fever, headache, and muscle pain. These can usually heal themselves if you eat good food for a cold.
The first food that is good for a cold is fish. Many studies found out that fish is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are known to reduce the incidence of heart disease and body inflammation. Also, they improve the functioning of immune cells which can improve the immune system. For example, sardine has 1259mg, rainbow trout has 905mg, salmon has 840mg, and tuna has 196mg.
The second food that is good for a cold is mushroom. Mushroom is rich in Vitamin B, selenium, and antioxidative activity component. It can affect antivirus activity and increase cells that fight inflammation. So, it can be good at maintaining an immune system for us.
The third food that is good for a cold is fruits like tangerine. Most fruits have a variety of vitamin C. For example, one orange, it has full of Vitamin C. The recommended daily intake of Vitamin C is 117 percent.
The last food but not the least that is good for a cold is deodeok. Deodeok contains a lot of saponin and inulin, which strengthens the function of the stomach and lungs. It helps stop coughing and is effective in bronchial diseases due to its excellent fever, gerdam, and anti-inflammatory functions. However, deodeok is a cold-tempered food, so if you eat it too much, you may have digestive problems, so you have to be careful.
Mostly, a cold recovers in about one week. There are no perfect medicines for a cold. So, the best way to recover it is to get rest and eat healthy food such as fish, mushrooms, fruits, and deodeok.
