Can you believe there is a festival about iron? In Ulsan Metropolitan City, there is the first iron production place in South Korea. So, there are some cultural activities such as the process of smelting and many others. Naturally, Ulsan holds Seoburi(smelting iron) festival. Unfortunately, 2020's real festival was canceled because of the widespread COVID-19. However, this year, the festival will be held from October 22 to 24.
This year is the 17th anniversary of Seoburi Festival. The festival is held in the Dalcheon iron smelting factory and mine in Buk-gu, Ulsan. There are many artifacts and remains from the fourth century. This year 2021's festival's slogan is "Let's Burn in Up". Also, Ulsan Seoburi Festival is held by Buk-gu office. Moreover, it was supported by Ulsan Metropolitan City's office and the Korea ministry of culture. There are various enjoyable attractions in the festival. You can see the process of mining iron and smelting it with a big fire. Also, you can enjoy and experience a variety of booths and enjoyable performances of invited singers.
Unfortunately, 2020's Seoburi Festival did not happen. However, as a happy feature of a misfortune, Buk-gu decided to hold an online festival. The festival was held in 2020 from October 9 to 11. It was held online, and according to an interview of a citizen who participated in this festival, although no one could go there, it was enjoyable and helpful for the children.
The purpose of Seoburi Festival is to make people be interested in the process of smelting and mining of iron, Seoburi and enjoy the festival. Although, 2020's festival was held online, how about taking part in this year's festival?
