Recently, many people are stressed about malicious computer viruses that threaten their personal information and electronic devices. Above all, ransomware becomes a huge problem when using the internet. People suddenly were not able to access their computer systems. All these originated from the "CryptoLocker" virus, which is used for ransomware.
     Ransomware is a compound word of "Ransom" and "Software". This is a malicious program which hacks into money locking systems or coding data. Ransomware has been in existence for more than ten years. However, it was not until 2013 that it became an actual threat to all systems, expecially with the advent of bitcoin and cryptolocker.
     Majority of ransomware spreads through E-mail, websites, and P2P sites. This spreads to all the files or office documents nondescriptly. Recent ransomware has extended its range, and threatens even android smartphone data. This is especially riskier through "faithless sites" with "Drive by Download" technique.
     There are more than 50 kinds of ransomware. Also, the way of infection has become more diverse. Thorough prevention is the only way to keep my PC and data from a virus. According to the cyber police, important information and business should upload their existing files in the cloud server. Files in anomalous emails should not be opened without any confirmation procedure. It is most important to install an anti-virus software, and keep the latest version.
     Despite the precautions, if your PC is infected by ransomware, you should disconnect it immediately from the internet connection, and report it to the police. there is a saying, "To lock the stable door after the horse is stolen." To avoid regret, you should secure your PC as soon as possible.
