There are many school events at my school such as school trips, sports feasts, school play, and many more. However, this year, these events are not being hosted well because of the pandemic. In fact, there are so many events that were canceled or delayed.

▲ School opening ceremony was cancelled

First of all, the opening ceremony in most schools is canceled. Because we are now practicing online classes, holding the opening ceremony at school is no longer done. Then, school events that are loved by many students such as sports day and school excursion were also canceled because of the pandemic's riskiness. Besides, the events in my school such as school play, school music festival, English listening test, and poetry festival were also canceled.

While there were many events that were canceled, there is one that is just being postponed or delayed, and it is our school trip. Based on the existing program, the first-grade students should go on a school trip. However, because of the pandemic, they can go on a school trip when they are in the second grade. However, it was just a plan and is not yet fixed. If this pandemic still continues next year, perhaps they cannot go on a school trip at all.

Students and teachers have many opinions about the cancellation of many school events. Teachers speak in one voice that safety is the most important. However, students have a different stand about it. One student said that schools should hold an event as much as possible. Another student said that a certain event should be postponed next year because of the pandemic, but it should be celebrated in a better way next year. Then, other students said that the cancellation of school events is a shame, but it cannot be helped.

Although students and teachers have different opinions about the school events' cancellation, their opinions have one commonality as everyone wishes for this pandemic to end so that everyone can enjoy the school events when everything will be back to normal. We just need to understand that the cancellation is made for the better and safety of all, and it is not arbitrary.
