With COVID-19 situations, we have realized the importance of doctors bitterly. The definition of "doctor" is a person with a medical degree whose job is to treat people who are ill or hurt. The work of a doctor is very various. It is not only treating people but also checking patients' condition and making lots of medical certifications. Just like this, becoming a doctor seems very difficult. How do students become a doctor?
The qualification to be a doctor is having education for 10 to 14 years. The basic procedure is going to a premedical course as a department and a medical course and finally applying for OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) with your knowledge that has been obtained until then through the educational procedure. After passing the test, you will able to become an intern doctor in a university hospital or get a job as a medical researcher. According to incumbent doctors' interview, the most important thing for a doctor is the mind to sacrifice for others.
Professor Kim Bung-neon, a professor of the premedical courses at Seoul University, said that the prospects of doctors seem still bright because many demands exist. As our society enters the aging society, health will be more important for long life. The possibility of development, the outlook for occupation, and the equality of employment of doctors are high, too.
There is an interview with Seo Young-sung, the director of Keimyung University in Daegu. He said that while fighting against COVID-19, all medical teams in the hospital are determined to do the best that they can do instead of giving up and not trying. Becoming a doctor is certainly very difficult, and you may want to give up sometimes. However, you should constantly face a challenge, and someday, you will become a great doctor!
