COVID-19 is seriously raging all over the world. For example, the U.S. has more than 100,000 cases per day. Moreover, on October 31st, Halloween, many people went outside which means government's role is very important. KCDC (Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) is also playing an important role, Engyung Jung, head of KCDC, did a great job. Moreover, she is selected as one of the 100 most important figures.

Engyung, was born in 1965 on July 9. She was born in Gwangju, Jeollanam-do province. She was good at studying. She entered Seoul National University and got a bachelor's degree. Also, she got a master's degree in public health. Moreover, she got a doctor's degree in preventive medicine. She started her career at a small clinic. After several years, she became an epidemiological surveyor. She made standard for reporting epidemics. She has recognized in the effort. In 2000, she reacted well against measles. Moreover, in 2005, when AIDS was serious, she improved the way to store blood. Also, in 2009, when the flu was raging she made a lot of efforts to prevent it. She was recognized for such efforts, so she became director of a medical officer. After working for several years as a director of a medical officer, she started working in KCDC to fight against MERS-CoV. And she became the head of KCDC.

Many people who know her must know her because of her reaction to COVID-19. When the Covid-19 started, she tried her best to offer the patient the best place to get treatment. However, time was not enough. According to the interview, she said that she did not go home for about three weeks, and she slept averagely only an hour to two hours a day. However, there were some troubles. For example, there were big problems with the place like a club. Especially in Itaewon, they failed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. For these problems, she had hard times, which made her hair change from black to white. She devoted herself to prevent people from being infected. So, she is selected as the one of 100 most important figures.
