Damwon Gaming goes to the final in the League of Legends World Championship for the first time in three years.

League of Legends World Championship 2020 is held in Shanghai, China. LOL World Championship as known as LOL Worlds is the most famous competition in the world. 22 teams from different leagues in the world compete in the play-in stage, group stage, and knockout stages; there are 4 teams from LPL, China: Top Esports, JD Gaming, Suning, and LGD Gaming. 4 teams from LEC, Europe: G2 Esports, Fnatic, Rogue, and MAD Lions. 3 teams from LCK, South Korea: Damwon Gaming, DRX, and GEN.G Esports. Lastly, the other 11 minor teams from the Pacific, Brazil, Oceania, Japan, and Turkey.

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, all game was played in the same place with no audiences, only online broadcasting. Compare to prior championships, all stages were played in different areas. For example, Europe Worlds in 2019, they were held in Berlin Germany, Madrid Spain, and Paris France. Also, the 10th-anniversary event for League Of Legends has postponed to next year. All players should quarantine for two weeks to play in the championship.

In the progress of this championship, 10 teams compete in the play-in stage to get 4 places for the group stage. In the group stage, the teams in groups, 4 groups with 4 teams each, play 6 games to get to the quarter-finals. After that, semi-finals and finals.

Now in 2020 LOL Worlds, semi-finals are on the way, four teams- Damwon Gaming, Suning, G2 Esports, and Top Esports. On the first day of the semi-finals, Damwon Gaming dominated G2 by 3:1. On October 25, there will be Top Esports and Suning’s match.

Since Damwon Gaming is in the finals for the first time in three years, they become the savior for the Korean fans. After 2017 Worlds the last winning of Samsung Galaxy for the Korea team, there were no good records from Korea teams in international competitions. However, Damwon showed their mighty ability to Korean fans by dominating all team in the Korea League. So the fans were expecting them to do something amazing. Finally, they got into the final so that fans’ interest in Damwon Gaming hit the peak. Hope them to win the final and bring our status back for LOL internationally.
