The annual events of each country are intended to show and preserve their own culture, or to encourage historical significance or action for a better future. Especially in South Korea, there are four seasons, so we eat different foods and enjoy different events together.
First, Baengno, which came on September 7, 2020, is a day to inform South Korea that autumn has come in earnest. In South Gyeongsang Province, the saying goes, "If it rains in August, we will increase the number of stones in Baekno." If rain on this day means that there will be a good harvest. In addition, grape, gizzard, and mung bean are some of the seasonal foods of this day, especially grapes.
Next, there is Youth Day on September 19. This day was designated to promote youth rights and the importance of youth development, and to raise interest in youth issues. In 2020, South Korean design-related companies, including the Sejong Passport Case and the Joseon Tiger Jacket Project, created traditional goods together. The list includes a painting of the afterlife cap, a youth cap, and a young man and future t-shirt.
However, the neighboring countries also have annual events for young people, such as South Korea's "Youth Day." In Japan, for example, it encourages bright hopes of young people and takes care of "Adult Day" nationally.
Autumn Equinox is on September 22nd as of 2020. This day strongly informs us that autumn has come. Because day and night become equal to the length of the autumn equinox. Also, after the autumn equinox, the nights gradually get longer.
As annual events give a glimpse of each country's culture, participating in various cultural events with a respectful attitude, and taking care of them will create a better country.
