In the next few centuries, fossil fuels will disappear. So what kind of fuel do we need to use to survive? It is renewable energy. There is still a lot of researches going on, and the Korean government also said that the goal of Korea's energy conversion is safe and clean energy. Moon Jae-in, the president of South Korea, promised to increase by 20 percent renewable energy power by 2030.
Renewable energy is the energy used by converting existing fossil fuels or by converting renewable energy, including sunlight, water, geothermal, precipitation, and biological organisms. Typical examples include solar, wind, geothermal, bioenergy, and hydrogen energy. What they have in common is that they are energy that will be used a lot in the future. Currently, the nation is experiencing a ten percent annual increase in energy use. This is a serious problem. To solve this problem, we need to develop renewable energy that can be created and used steadily without destroying the environment, and we also need to build many renewable energy industries.
Until now, coal is accounted for the largest portion of power generation by energy source in 2017, accounting for 43.1 percent and LNG 22.2 percent, followed by renewable energy at 5.6 percent. According to the basic plan, the government plans to increase the ratio of renewable energy to 20 percent by 2030, and reduce the proportion of coal which has 36.1 percent, nuclear power plants which have 23.9 percent, and LNG which has 18.8 percent respectively. It is important because many fossil fuels will disappear in the future, and we have to make renewable energy before it is too late.
South Korea's energy consumption has recorded the world's highest growth rate of ten percent every year over the past decades, and its greenhouse gas emissions have also been the world's number one growth rate. Therefore, it is necessary to develop renewable energy. If South Korea continues to build and develop renewable energy industries, they will have new and renewable energy power. Moreover, the good news about it is that even if South Korea produces more energy, other countries can also benefit.
