As the peak season for Summer vacation is coming, people are searching for safe vacation spots. However, it is certainly not easy to find places during this pandemic. Today, the trend for Summer vacation is slowly changing due to COVID-19.
As reported in YTN, there have been a lot of guests visiting various hotels in Seoul and Busan. The reservation rate for Koreans increased by 50% than last year since people are restricted to go to certain places. Also, since people are not able to travel to different countries, hotels are major places where travelers gather these days. While many experts are worried about another peak for COVID-19 due to the Summer season, people will inevitably go on vacation. They are especially concerned about group infections, like what happened at Itaewon clubs amid May, after a long weekend. According to a professor “Kim Woo Joo” at Korea University, it is likely that virus will spread as people visit many places and is high at risk.
Many experts believe that this Summer will be the most challenging time since COVID-19 broke out. Despite Korea’s effort to preventing the virus from spreading from regions to regions, there are still lots of cases in the central area of Seoul. According to KBS News, the Korean government strongly suggested 3 things to keep and 3 things to avoid. The three things people must keep in mind are wearing masks as much as possible, not staying at restaurants for a long time, and social distancing. They also suggested people avoid going outside when they have symptoms, avoid busy areas and times, and avoid physical contact with people. While these are basic rules, there are lots of cases that are caused by not keeping the simple rules.
There is not a definite end to COVID-19 so far, people are highly recommended to keep social distancing and avoid traveling. It is still questionable whether another peak of the virus will be avoided by keeping the rules and traveling safely during the middle of the Summer.
