A Hyundai official said this MOU with Seoul was achieved by the consensus that hydrogen can be a solution to future climate change and energy conversion. He also said that they will do their best to push cooperation business for actualizing the hydrogen economy.

Hyundai signed MOU with Seoul on March 31st to intensify cooperation for promoting the spread of hydrogen vehicles in Seoul, South Korea in which Hyundai Car President Youngwood Gong and Seoul Mayor Wonsun Park took in.

Seoul City planed to amplify the supply of hydrogen-electric vehicles which aims to purify the polluted air with no polluted substance, except for water, so that Seoul will become an eco-friendly city worldwide as well as it aims to decline emission of fine dust, including ultra-fine dust. This MOU includes amplification of production and supply of the hydrogen-electric vehicle, spread charging infrastructure, and method to activate hydrogen electric vehicle. The goal of supply presented at the '2019 World Cities Summit Mayors Forum' in Seoul COEX was supplying over 4000 hydrogen-electric vehicles and building over 15 hydrogen charging stations by 2022. While before signing MOU, there were three charging stations in Seoul, including station located in National Assembly, hydrogen charging stations will be located downtown which had been hard to catch ground to build. By amplifying commercial vehicle and construction machinery, Hyundai and Seoul extended the system of hydrogen-electric vehicles. Today, Hydrogen electric vehicles have lower purchasing cost by giving increased purchasing subsidy and expanding the range of supporting taxation and heighten after service. Also, the hydrogen-electric bus which passed the test drive will be put in the regular line. Hyundai heightened service to back hydrogen-electric vehicles securely. Hyundai planned to promote the comprehension of hydrogen-electric cars by hydrogen experience museums and make pilot hydrogen village to make the cognition of hydrogen energy.

Although the support of citizens in Seoul to build the infrastructure of the hydrogen economy, this MOU can make citizens understand why they should support making hydrogen economy and become participants of the hydrogen economy. By 2040, we have to prepare the disappearing fossil fuels, to do that, we have to cognize the power of hydrogen economy and electric battery.
