South Korea and the United States of America held a conference on the THAAD(Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) system.

What is THAAD?

Thaad is a defense system which protects the country from missiles.

When an enemy launches a missile, the Thaad radar system detects the launch, which is relayed to command and control. Thaad command and control instructs the launch of an interceptor missile, and the interceptor missile is fired at the enemy projectile. The enemy projectile is destroyed in the terminal phase of flight.

They (South Korea and the USA ) decided to deploy the THAAD. Also they discussed about where to deploy and who will have final control.

But China has lodged a protest with the United States of America and South Korean envoys because they have opposed the THAAD deployment.

China has been retaliating in various aspects to against Korea.

Beijing has previously threatened Lotte, and as a result of China's trade retaliation, Lotte's customers and stock prices have fallen sharply.

In addition, the number of tourists of in visiting South Korea has been greatly reduced by the prohibition of travel to Korea due to China's trade retaliation.

China's foreign ministry said that the THAAD system will harm peace and stability in the region, despite its ability to detect and shoot down North Korean missiles.

It seems China expresses strong dissatisfaction and objections.

South Korea's Trade Minister Joo Hyung-hwan told parliament China "may be in violation of some trade agreement".

China will continue to retaliate to against  Korea because the range of THAAD radar is invades Chinese territory.
