Do you know that Guk-jong Lee is making an effort for South Korea? Guk-jong Lee is a surgeon of South Korea and a professor at Ajou University, which is a famous university hospital. He is even the head of Ajou University Hospital. Before the sinking of the Sewol ferry on February 4, 2014, he was just an ordinary surgeon. However, by doing an active part during the sinking of the Sewol ferry, he is considered as one of the brave and responsible surgeons in society.
Guk-jong Lee was born on April 22, 1969. In his childhood, his family was poor, and he hid this fact from his friends for fear that he would be recognized as a sick son because his father was a man of national merit. When he was in middle school, he had a severe case of sinusitis. So, he went to a hospital to treat it. When his treatment was finished, he was offered a medical welfare card for the national meritorious, but his parents did not accept it. Then, he vowed not to let the sick get away with it.
Guk-Jong Lee also contributed to the establishment of the regional trauma centers in all parts of South Korea. By doing his best, he received a doctor's helicopter which he really wanted.
As a surgeon who determines a person's life or death, Guk-jong Lee said that there is only life and death in an operating room, no draw. Because of what he said, we can think that surgeons are very important. For 30 years, Guk-jong Lee has treated many people as a surgeon. Hence, it is truly a pleasure to respect him not only as a surgeon but also as a human.
