Every year, high school third graders in South Korea take a test. This test is called the National College Entrance Examination, which is known as the most influential test in one's life. Universities require high test scores, so students study hard to get higher grades. However, the examination is not the only way to go to college. Students can be evaluated by their high school life, too.
There was an issue about Cho Guk, the minister of justice in South Korea. By his power, Cho Guk's daughter could go to the medical graduate school. She wrote a thesis with a medical professor, and that experience helped her to enter there. However, writing a thesis with a professor is only possible to a few people, and this makes a lot of people frustrated. Motivated from this incident, the government said that they would reduce the percentage of going to universities by school life, which means that the influence of examination will grow bigger.
However, some people disagreed with the government's opinion. If the rate of college examination increases, students in a specific region or school can have benefits. Teachers in special-purpose high schools tend to be better than ordinary schools. This means that only students who study in well-known high schools can have the opportunity to learn from capable teachers. Therefore, increasing the ratio of examination can give rise to the unbalance of regions and schools.
Students in this complex period should achieve good grades in the National College Entrance Examination. Also, they should be flexible to compete with people who are educated properly to the changing technology. Now, we should pay attention to the reality that students are in chaos, and academies are growing rapidly.
