Korea’s two leading android smartphone makers, Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. started the market battle for their flagship smartphones.

Samsung launched its new flagship smartphone Galaxy S8 on April 21 while its local competitor, LG released its latest flagship smartphone G6 earlier on March 10.

The competition between two soon caught up the attentions of the mobile guru as it is Samsung’s first flagship launch since its infamous Galaxy Note 7.

After its release in August 2016, Galaxy Note 7 was at the center of a massive recall for its battery explosion problem.

Despite the worries, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 has drawn bigger-than-expected market responses on its pre-sale far exceeding the supply.

LG, which has enjoyed the influx of new users for its products after the recall issue of its competitor, marked record sales with LG G6 which was sold more than 30,000 within just three days.

When directly compared, Galaxy S8 beats LG G6 in the overall functions and performance with the newer Application Processors, existance of AI personal assistant(Bixby) and use of more various biometric methods.

However, the users nodded to LG G6 for its entertainment functions including the audio and camera.

The higher price is another weak point of Galaxy S8.

The two companies are currently devoting all their power into marketing to gain the upper hand in the market.
