As YouTube creators are rising up in South Korea, there is someone that sticks out. That is Park Mak-rye, a silver creator awardee who came to her peak in the twilight of her life. Working on her YouTube channel "Korea Grandma," she is enjoying her life as a powerfully influential person with more than one million subscribers.

Unlike any streamer who hosts shows through tightly selected and scripted contents aimed at "popular YouTuber," she suddenly became a star one day without any intent. Then, how did she become so popular? She said that even now, when it may have been quite familiar to shoot a video, she cannot get on the air properly if the script exits. After all, such a natural and realistic atmosphere has become a factor in the popularity of her. Moreover, she is not good at foreign languages, and she forgets what she just heard when she turns around. However, her warmhearted looks made us feel like she is actually our grandmother. In addition, she uploaded pictures of her and Sulli, an actress who killed herself lately, on her Instagram in memory of Sulli. People were moved by her pictures.

As Park Mak-rye began to gain fame, the sphere of her activity is getting wide. On the internet, a series of photos of noodles made with "Park Mak-rye's Recipe" is uploaded, and she participates alongside top stars in overseas film festivals. In May, she published her autobiography, "Park Mak-rye, I Cannot Die Like This." The book was sold at a tremendous pace, and it was introduced on the main page of the BBC website in June. Moreover, YouTube CEO, Susan Wachinsky, once visited South Korea to meet Park Mak-rye. In May, she had a meeting with Google CEO, Sunda Panchai, as well.

In an interview with a media outlet, Park Mak-rye told the younger generation to choose between what they have to do and what they want to do without hesitation. She said that she did at this age the things that she thought that cannot be done. As she encourages the younger generation, people think that she has gone through all the hardships of life then learn many things. Moreover, they are expecting her to enjoy her life just like this.
