Korea has its own emotions. In those there are three representative emotions Han, Heung and Jeong. Han, Heung and Jeong have their own characteristics.

First, Han is best translated as a deep sadness, we can call Han the heaviest emotion of the three. I can say that Han is made from bad historical moments like the Japanese colonial era, or the division of south and north Korea. Han is showed a lot in Korea’s songs like Arirang. Also, Han helped unite Korea in the face of crisis. A candlelight vigil and gold gathering campaign for IMF crisis are two examples.

 Jeong can be thought of as an invisible hug. because, Jeong is an emotion to share with others. You can feel Jeong in a Korean funeral. Koreans stayed up all night for 3 days once they were at the funeral. They tried to share sadness more than happiness. Also the Korean snack choco-pie came from the word Jeong. So it’s cover has a Chinese character for Jeong. Lastly, you can also see Jeong in the K-drama called descendants of the sun. Although north and south Korean soldiers were enemies, South Korean soldiers gave choco-pie to North Korean soldiers. It also shows Korean Jeong.

Heung is a little bit different. Heung means ‘Pure joy’. People wanted to overcome the sorrowful heart with joy. 

 For example, in the past, people loved to play samulnori which is to enjoy some song with a musical instrument. At this point, you will be able to see united Korean once again. And, the 2002 world cup mostly shows Koreans pure joy and power of unity. People all became one, and it captured the whole world’s attention. That’s not all, arirang was a song that expressed han. Nowadays, arirang can also express heung. It was used at the 2002 world cup, and created the red devils.

In conclusion, Han, Heung, and Jeong are all connected.
