The Japanese government said that they considered discharging Fukushima radioactive water in the Pacific Ocean because it is the quickest and cheapest method. In 2011, there was an earthquake, and it caused tons of Fukushima radioactive water to leak which is toxic. In 2013, the Japanese government admitted that they discharged tons of highly radioactive water to the ocean every day. Although they discharged a lot of radioactive water, the Japanese government still finding ways on how to disposes of Fukushima radioactive water. Moreover, they said that they have various options to discharge radioactive water, but cannot exclude the option to discharge radioactive water to the Pacific Ocean.
The influence of discharge of Fukushima radioactive water is enormous. According to TEPCO, strontium-90 and cesium-137 were detected in radioactive water. These materials are noxious to the human body and contaminate marine products. Our body recognizes cesium as potassium. Cesium condenses in muscle, and if cesium accumulates in our body, it causes cancers like breast cancer. Especially, pregnant women should pay special attention to cesium. it is because cesium can go to the embryo through the uterus. Also, when strontium accumulates in bones, it causes sterility. Our body recognizes strontium as magnesium, and it causes problems like physiological problems.
To resolve the problem, Seoul stiffened censorship of marine products from Japan whether cesium and iodine exist per kilogram or not. A standard that causes the problem is 100 Bq, but if 1 Bq is measured, Seoul will have additional censorship, especially in terms of the food for infants and toddlers'. It is because the standard amount of cesium in infants and toddlers' food is below 50 Bq/kg. Also, to resolve marine products problems, many people protest for the issue of food safety threatened by Fukushima radioactive water.
