A protest took place in Hong Kong. Citizens of Hong Kong demanded the withdrawal of the law on extradition. That's why Hong Kong's government has said it will postpone the extension indefinitely, but Hong Kong citizens are demanding a complete withdrawal. In the face of growing opposition from Hong Kong citizens, pro-Chinese people in Hong Kong also insisted on delaying the bill. If the extradition law is enforced, many Hong Kong citizens could be extradited to China for trial purposes. Also, Hong Kong may lose its independence.

On July 1st, there was an armed clash between protesters and police. Demonstrators occupied the streets early Sunday. Hong Kong police used tear gas, clubs and shields to suppress protesters. Protesters used an unknown liquid and 13 police officers were taken to hospital with breathing problems. Some protesters tried to illegally infiltrate government buildings. Also, protesters tried to break the glass doors of the legislature building with metal carts. Police warned protesters not to throw bricks.

In 1842, China, which had recently lost the first Opium War, forfeited Hong Kong to Britain. Hong Kong became a capitalist country under the influence of British capitalism and enjoyed great wealth through trade. The Hong Kong people realized that they could live well without China and take pride in themselves. In 1997, China received Hong Kong back, but Hong Kong began to oppose it. China didn't want to lose Hong Kong, so China allowed Hong Kong to have their own government and their own laws for a certain period of time. The contract was successful. China has tried to enforce criminal extradition laws to eliminate anti-Communist or anti-Chinese forces in Hong Kong.

I wish the Chinese government and Hong Kong would discuss with each other ways to coexist instead of fighting with each other. Hong Kong has to talk to the Chinese government and the Chinese government will be able to get Hong Kong in a few years, so I hope the Hong Kong people will listen to what they want. Then it will finally be peaceful.
