Cyclone "Fani" was a super cyclone that had 240-250 kph of the core's top wind. Fani was very strong as it blew away a glass door and a large-sized bus easily. Moreover, more than 30 people were dead when the super-sized cyclone hit eastern India and Bangladesh. In India, 16 were dead, and in Bangladesh, 14 were dead. Around ten thousand villages had lots of damages in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, and about two thousand houses were also destroyed in Bangladesh.
On May 5th (local time), according to a local media in India and Bangladesh, cyclone "Fani", which landed in the eastern Indian state of Odisha at 8 a.m., passed through Bangladesh on Sunday afternoon and disappeared. Bangladesh's weather authorities said that on May 4th in the afternoon, cyclone "Fani" weakened by a low pressure and announced that most force of cyclone Fani had disappeared, so they lift the warning.
The Indian and Bangladeshi governments evacuated 2.8 million people to safer areas in advance, leading to only few casualties. More than nine thousand shelters were set up in Odisha of India, and 100 thousand government officials and 45 thousand military personnel were deployed to help and support the victims.
The Indian and Bangladeshi governments begun restoration work on electricity, telecommunications networks, roads, and many others as "Fani" has completely left India and Bangladesh. Airplanes and train services that had been suspended by "Fani" are also being resumed.
