Do you know the history of Korean food that you eat often? We introduce two Korean foods, Sulungtang and Buchimgae. First, the Korean Sulungtang. Regarding the origins of Sulungtang, the King of the Joseon Dynasty went to "SeonJamDan" to worship to the God of harvest. After this, the King gave liquor and food. Its name of the food was Sunongtang. Today, its name has been changed into Sulungtang. Sulungtang is a traditional Korean food that is mostly eaten in winter, and it is characterized by its soft taste. One of the reasons why it is loved by Koreans is that you can eat it with kimchi or salt depending on your taste. When the first foreigners came in contact with Sulungtang, most of them felt rejected because of the white soup that they do not often see.
However, it is obvious that sulungtang will give an impressive and deep taste to foreigners once they eat it. Second, explain about "Buchimgae". It is also called as "Jeon" and vegetable pancake in English. The "Buchimgae" is made from oil, meat, seafood, seasoned in flour and eggs and many other ingredients. You can use so many different ingredients that if you just put the word "Jeon" in the ingredients name, it becomes "Jeon food". Moreover, there are many kinds of "Buchimgae", such as "Kimchi Buchimgae", "Pak Buchimgae" and Seafood Parap Buchimgae. The buchimgae, dating back to the Goryeo Dynasty, was first discovered during spring, and originated from "Hwajeon Nori," where petals were placed on top of glutinous rice dough under a flower tree.
During the Joseon Dynasty, only royal families ate buchimgae as it was a very valuable ingredient. It is said to be the best food for foreigners because its cooking method and appearance are similar to those of foreign foods.
