On August 4, 2018, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had a meeting on the sidelines of a regional security forum in Expo Convention Center, in Singapore for North Korea's denuclearization.

This meeting has proceeded to the closed-door meeting. The contents of the meeting were about contact trend of inter-Korea and US-North Korea around North Korea's nuclear issue. Especially, they pledged for a close coordination to implement the Panmunjom Declaration, made on April 27 inter-Korean summit, and the Sentosa joint statement, released at the US-North Korea summit in June, according to a diplomatic source.

In addition, Kang Kyung-wha and Mike Pompeo also talked about many issues between US-South Korea. Kang Kyung-wha said about the cost for stating of the US Forces in South Korea, sanctions and trade with Iran, and imports and exports of South Korean Cars. Mike Pompeo understood the Korean position and will negotiate about these issues.

North Korea has had nuclear since 1950 and implemented nuclear experiment from 2006 to 2017. These North Korea's behaviors threaten not only South Korea but countries all over the world. Nuclear is very dangerous, so many countries including South Korea, US, China, Japan, Russia have exerted too much effort to implement North Korea's denuclearization for world's peace, occurring a lot of conflicts and problems among the countries. North Korea threatens the world with nuclear, IRBM, SLBM, and ICBM continually, but since April 2018, North Korea has started to cease threat and use weapons. North Korea's denuclearization still does not come true, but world peace is coming to us with a lot of communication between countries like the meeting between Kang Kyung-wha and Mike Pompeo.

Mike Pompeo stated that North Korea promised denuclearization, and he believes they will implement it.

Meanwhile, Kang Kyung-wha arrived in Singapore on July 31, 2018. She had meetings with the representatives from China, Japan, Russia and many others. Also, she attended the 51st ASEAN Foreign Minister Meeting.
