Rapper Jung Sang Soo, who became popular through the hip-hop survival audition program "Show Me the Money", was charged because of sexual assault. He tried to sexually assault a drunk woman. He claimed that it was agreed. the case was sent to the prosecutors to indict him. In addition, he had charged several times before because of his drunk behavior. People criticized him hard.
Other rappers got their name through the program "Show Me the Money", C Jamm and Vasco, who are in trouble because of their use of Marijuana. C Jamm was arrested, and Vasco was just booked without arresting. Especially, C Jamm is in a bigger problem with his post on Instagram with a caption that says "Going in after finish recording". People considered him not being guilty even one expert said that he cannot understand his behavior since C Jamm would have known what will happen after his post. More than that, another rapper Yoon Byeong-ho is being criticized for his comment on C Jamm's posting. He commented, "I love you, take care".
Furthermore, hip-hop producer Kush was arrested for using marijuana a few months ago. Don Mallick had a hard time being accused of sexual harassment. Rapper Iron was about to be sent to prison for assaulting his girlfriend.
Hip-hop is actually still unstable in South Korea. People still consider it negatively because of its hateful lyrics and 'dissing' culture. Despite its popularity, they are still not accepted as a mainstream yet. At this point, rappers committing sexual assault and using marijuana may worsen the image. Actually, many people got to think that hip-hop is kind of a genre which allows drug, sexually harassing and blaming each other. Furthermore, many adults believe that hip-hop artists being bad may seem cool for teenagers. The freedom of art can be respected, but it has limits and rappers should take care.
