The President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in and the president of USA, Donald Trump, will hold a summit in Washington D.C. on May 22. According to Cheong Wa Dae and the White House, the two leaders are going to discuss issues about North Korea including Trump's planned meeting with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un.
The White House said that President Trump and President Moon will continue their close coordination on developments regarding the Korean Peninsula following the April 27 inter-Korean summit. The two leaders will also discuss President Trump's upcoming meeting with North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un. In addition, Cheong Wa Dae also confirmed the schedule for the meeting of President Moon and Trump, saying that the presidents will discuss how to ensure the success of the forthcoming USA - North Korea summit. Also, it said that President Moon and Trump will discuss the results of the April 27 summit between South Korea and North Korea, and ways to facilitate the success of the USA and North Korea summit.
Just a day after the inter-Korean summit meeting, President Moon and Trump held phone talks meeting, and they promised to closely cooperate on the issues about denuclearization. Following North Korea's announcement to dismantle its nuclear test sites and stop its nuclear tests, the meeting is expected to have an impact on North Korea's denuclearization.
Meanwhile, this will be the fourth Seoul-Washington summit since President Moon took office in May last year, and there will be a summit meeting between North Korea and the USA in Singapore on June 12.
